A free new service available through Abigail Jackson Designs!

If you would like to send a card to a friend or loved one but are staying home to keep safe, you can now leave it to me!

Just add your chosen card to the basket and write your personal message in the 'Add a note to your order’.  We will then handwrite the message inside and send the card to the recipient by first class post.  We will post the card on the same day if the order is received before 2pm.  Please put the recipient's name and address in the ‘shipping address’ section.

We will not charge you anything extra for this service - you only pay for the card and shipping.  Please note that you can only purchase one 'Write and send' card at a time.

While the Covid-19 outbreak continues, we are taking extra safety precautions here at Abigail Jackson Designs, such as cleaning surfaces more frequently and using hand gel when handling your cards.
If you have any questions, please call us on 07912 855148 or send an email to abigail@abigailjacksondesigns, and we will get back to you.
We hope this service will be helpful to our customers. Take good care of yourselves and each other.

My top tips for writing a greeting card

Picture
Make guidelines
To keep your writing even, make a few guidelines on your paper using a ruler and a pencil.  Make sure you press softly on the pencil so the lines can easily be erased after you’ve written your message!
Picture
Use a good pen
To keep your writing clean, use a reliable pen – not one that spits out globs of ink or cuts out half-way through a word.
Take your time
Rushed writing creates sloppy, inconsistent letter forms.  Show the reader that you’ve put some effort into your note by slowing down and taking the time to write a neat and clear message.
Here are a few ways to make sure your card looks great inside as well as outside!

Plan the message
Nothing says ‘sloppy’ like a spelling mistake.  Avoid these errors by writing a draft of your message on a scrap of paper.  Spellcheck your message and then copy it onto your greeting card.

Practice good posture
You’d be surprised how much posture can affect your handwriting. It’s not like working on a computer, where you can slouch all you want and the letters still come out clean. When you’re writing by hand, everything, from the way you hold your pen to the way you sit in the chair can impact how your writing turns out.  To ensure you create neat words every time, set up a little writing station whenever you sit down to send letters or cards. This can either be done at a desk or you could even use a TV tray if you wanted to work in the living room. Either way, make sure you’re sitting up straight so you have good control over your movements.

3 Reasons to Send the Perfect Greeting Card

Picture
1. Show your own style…
Your personality shines through when you put pen to paper and write in your own handwriting rather than Calibri 12…

2. Give Them Something to Hold, Open, and Keep…Many of us rely on Facebook to remind us about people’s birthdays and to send a birthday message, but nobody will remember (or save) a message posted on their wall.  A real greeting card gives your friend or family member the chance to open something on their birthday, pin to their notice board, or put on their windowsill.  Also, tearing open an envelope and revealing the card within is much more satisfying than clicking on a link or scrolling down a page.

For many of us, our mobile devices meet all our communication needs.

In fact, it’s never been easier to send an e-card, text, Facebook message or even start a WhatsApp chat to mark the occasion, but nothing beats sending a traditional handwritten greeting card.

At Abigail Jackson Designs, we create a large range of greeting cards for all occasions.  All our cards feature an aperture with a real fabric design.  This summer, we decided to put together a list of three brilliant reasons to get offline and post the perfect greeting card.

3. Show Someone You Are Really Thinking Of Them…You do not even need a special occasion in order to send a greeting card!  Going out of your way to buy a card, write a message, buy a stamp and pop it in the post shows that you really are thinking of the person who will receive the card.

You might want to reconnect with someone after not talking for a while, or send a message to cheer somebody up.  Perhaps you just saw the card design and thought the other person would like it.  Whatever the reason, the fact that you went to the effort of sending a card shows the other person just how much you care.
