How many of us have a special place at home or in the garden to relax, read, jot down your thoughts, listen to some music - or just daydream? I guess not so many, so lets change it! Give yourself a special gift and create your own cosy corner.
Lots of people want a place where they can forget about their inbox and to-do list for a little while and just relax. When creating and designing a relaxing corner there are several aspects to take into consideration. Here are some useful tips!
Make sure it is away from all the noise and distraction - not in front of the TV!
Choose somewhere bright and light with views from a window over rooftops or into a garden. Or you can build yourself a cozy window nook. It’s actually a very practical use of the space and can be part of a bedroom or living room.
Think about the best type of seating for this area. Go for a small sofa or daybed, a comfy lounge chair, a bean bag or even a hammock or hanging chair. Add a side table for that mug of hot coffee, tea, a glass of wine or a big G&T!
Flowers and plants have a calming effect and provide a pop of colour.
To increase comfort, add cushions - you can see a number of examples on my website. Perhaps have a blanket nearby - you never know when you'll get another chance for a catnap!
Of course, don’t forget to personalise the space with pictures or artwork, or anything else which makes you feel happy and comfortable.
