It's been a long year, but now it's time to explore the interior design trends for 2021!

Interior design is an art form which improves the comfort and beauty of your home (or even just one room). The colour scheme, lighting, accessories, furniture, and other details affect how your home looks and feels.

As a new year approaches, many people will be thinking about new beginnings. For some, that will mean buying a new home. Here are some tips to ensure your own home looks great so you can sell it fast!

1. Floral Wallpaper

Floral wallpaper has long been a classic design style, but there’s a difference between the light, bright, flowery floral wallpaper and the old, pastel pink floral wallpaper and wooden furniture from your grandparents' era. Looking beyond traditional floral designs, new designers are looking at abstract art and nature for inspiration.  For instance, abstract art can include nature scenes, trees, mountains, and ocean waves.

2. Metal

One of the most exciting interior decorating trends in 2021 will be the use of metal. Get ready for wall decals, tablecloths with metal lettering, wall panels and metal doors.

3. Using Natural Materials

Another trend for 2021 is an emphasis on the use of natural materials, so look out for more hardwood floors and stylish wooden furniture.

4. Earthy Tones

As grey tones become yesterday's trend, earthy tones like cream, brown and ivory are becoming more popular.

5. Lighting

Light is hugely important to the design, look and feel of any space. Decorative and functional lighting needs to be built into any interior design plan.  The trend for 2021 is to avoid lighting large areas in a formal fashion and instead to use more targeted lighting which illuminates smaller pieces of furniture or areas such as tables and sofas.
